Is Parliamentarians of Nasheed’s Party joining Indian Congress Party?

Maldivian MPs have met the ambassador of India to Maldives Mullay to brief the “threats” that they have confronted regarding the motion which was successfully passed by 41 to 24 votes to amend the regulation of the Parliament to make all no-confidence motion as a secret vote.

The uneducated MPs where the super majority has not attended formal schools during their childhood have conveyed their sentiments on the “threats” made by the President of Adhalath Party, Imran Abdulla.

Imran said during a rally which was organised against Indian Infrastructure Co GMR, which the coalition will chase all the members who do not vote against the amendments to the regulation. Stressing that all the votes, motions, debates and happenings of parliament should be open for public accountability Imran said those who vote in favour of the motion will be regarded as traitors of the nation and the people will “chase them”.

The uneducated MPs of MDP think “chasing them” is a criminal threat and they have demanded from the state authorities to investigate the matter.

Dubious statement by Nasheed’s friends

Last week MP Ibrahim Mohamed Salih, the closest MP of Nasheed, said that Imran’s speech was threat to the parliamentarians and it breaches the immunity prescribed in the Constitution to MPs of the Parliament.

Though Salih thinks their immunity should cover beyond the norm of accountability of the Parliament, the Constitution states the other way only.

The Constitution states that no member of the Parliament can be questioned, detained, arrested, or subject any claim for any statement he/she made in the parliament or a vote in the parliament unless it contradicts the Islamic Laws.

Salih forgot, or he himself is not competent even to read what the law says. Article 4 of the Constitution states that all the powers of the state shall be commenced from the people and it remains with them.

Article 27 states that “everyone has the right to freedom of thoughts and the freedom to communicate opinion and expression in a manner that is not contrary to any tenet of Islam”.

Most of the MPs of the Parliament have made remarks that Mullay is a traitor, and made lot of remarks on him.

GMR appears before Singapore Court

Yesterday GMR Group has filed a law suit at the Singapore High Court against the Maldives government and Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL) on the decision to annul the contract to run the airport and to stop the government from evicting them within seven days.

The local newspapers have informed that during the first hearing GMR had applied for a temporary stay order preventing the Maldives government from taking any action against GMR in violation of the existing contract.

Haveeru Newspaper reports:

“GMR had requested for an immediate interim measure. But our lawyers told the court that there were no grounds to issue a temporary stay order today. The hearing ended after the court refused an interim measure in favor of GMR today,” an official of the Attorney General’s office told Haveeru.

The contract between the three parties stipulates that if any party has a claim fallen within the contract, firstly the dispute shall be brought to the Arbitration (SIAC-Singapore Center for International Arbitration Center).

Eventually the case filed in the jurisdiction of the High Court of Singapore is all about the Arbitration proceedings. Mostly before the parties arbitrate they ask for an interim stay order in order to avoid any damage that might occur if the party complies with a given notice.

Annulling GMR agreement is the only option available for Maldives

We have heard from MDP itself that GMR-airport issue was discussed during the second cabinet meeting of Nasheed Administration in November, 2008. It was however, not informed to the media or publish that Nasheed is going to lease the only international airport to GMR-an Indian Based company.

After several months, When Nasheed used all his play cards to generate revue of the state to meet its expenses monthly, he rushed to sell off the property to a company which is based on the most corrupt jurisdiction of the world.

The … Questions I would like to ask to Mr. Nasheed is;

  1. Was your Attorney General able to see the contract before the government signed the contract?
  2. Why were you so hurries in appointing new board of directors rather trying to convince the GMR deal before they were dismissed by you?
  3. How can MACL (Maldives Airports Company Limited) directors sign a contract which was to be signed within 30 minutes of their appointment?
  4. Why was the President allowed to sign a contract which facilitates in establishing hospitals, schools, social facilities and other trade facilities in the airport?
  5. Why were you signed a contract which allows to establish duty free shops for visitors to Hulhule, which will lead to a huge problem for the local businessmen who are devoted to their medium size business?
  6. Why were you so ignorant in allowing a foreign company to levy tax on us, as the constitution clearly stipulates that no one can levy any tax unless the parliament consents to do so?

As we see GMR is stealing lands from abroad, and making frauds in India, Maldives has a firm attitude towards the agreement. As if the contract is void ab anitio. It was because the members of MACL were unable to consent the contents of the agreement within the few hours of their appointment took place.

Judicial Service Commission and Supreme Court of Maldives has Forgotten the natural principles of justice: shame on the people who appoint them

During the hearing of the Hulhumale’ Court public law case, the defendant Ismail Wisham’s lawyer, former attorney general who also served as the chief judge of Madhanee (civil court) court, has raised two procedural issues before the justices of the supreme Court.

As the trial began, the experienced lawyer made his remarks before the bench politely upon commencing the hearing.  The two arguments before the bench were;

  1. That, Ismail Wisham has not filed any case before the Supreme Court, nor did he has asked for leave-for the permission to file a case before the court.
    1. Ismail Visham  filed a civil case (a case of judicial review) against the Judicial Service Commission claiming that JSC was in contradiction in establishing a magistrate court in HulhuMale’- a award of Male’ next to Hulhule’.                         [Continue…MvLawyer]

Inter Parliamentary Union to investigate Human Rights issues filed by the Most Corrupt people of the World

Today an international body arrived and deployed teams to investigate the human right abuses on the MPs that allegedly taken place on 7th and 8th of February- the day world first democratically elected dictator who resigned himself acknowledging the mistakes he had made.

Mainly the MPs who had been allegedly faced police brutality were Eva, Mariya, Easa, Bonda, and Inthiyaz Fahmy. Evan, Mariya, and Easa went to the protests which were taken place in the Republican square, claiming to protect Nasheed. Local media insisted that they went with thugs who were having knives and swords, which led to a confrontation with the police. It’s just like heading to a sea in a perilous weather.

And if I’m not mistaken the uneducated MP Bonda was kicked by police officers. However, MP inthiyaz Fahumy was arrested during a confrontation with the police, where no harm was inflicted on him, but he claims that he was arrested and brutally injured. However he was arrested live on Camera, where he repeatedly refused to leave behind the barricades to make way to police to protect the Fuel Stations.

Mohamed Imthiyaz in known for his ignorance, firstly, was discovered when he claimed that the head of state has the power to abduct sitting judges and MPs of the Parliament if the president believes  that they may be a threat to the national security.

Imthiyaz, who claimed to have attained a Degree on Law, has not yet shown any interest on any parliamentary committee which takes place every day, but rather attends all the political junta meetings of the barbaric MDP thugs.

IPU today is pursuing an investigation against the Most corrupt and ill-mannered people that would be very pathetic to discuss further. They do not contribute any fruitful argument before the parliament, not did they make anything but the political statements of the dictator nasheed.

But today, some people from the democratic governments of IPU countries is here to investigate the human rights abuses against the corrupt, illiterate MPs of Maldives.

Im speech less.

Note of the Day: Maldives Government is promoting and boycotting tourism

Tourism stands as the highest revenue generating income source for Maldives in the past decade. It was developed from the scratch during the Nasir Administration. Having achieved lot of milestones now Maldives is one the top travel destination in the world.

Maldivian government and resort owners pay millions of dollars to promote Maldivian tourism. From participating events held across the oceans to subscribing advertisements in the world top media outlets Maldives has an escalating achievements in the past years.

But now, after several years, have faced another hazardous situation where Maldivians calling for boycotting our own tourism industry including the former political appointees. With the help of some Conservative Party supporters of United Kindom, the former President Nasheed and then his appointed colleagues are contributing their efforts on it.

The Privileges and Protection for former Presidents Act of 2009 requires the state to pay funds to cover the expenses of former president’s offices which should carry social activities. Despite of the legal mandate, Nasheed launched a campaign to boycott Maldivian Tourism. All the expenses of Nasheed and his office are expected to be covered by state funds.

Basically saying, Nasheed travelling abroad with state funds and calling to boycott Maldivian tourism industry is another peril towards the development of the industry.

However, Nasheed, lastweek have made a statement claiming that the government is not paying the required funds as prescribed by the law. While, the Finance Ministry has said that Nasheed need to ascertain the location of his office. Nasheed’s strong supporter, MP Ali Waheed, who was bought on an auction, have stated that Nasheed’s office is the streets of the capital city, Male’.

Time is running out: We must unite and stop the doom we face in the name of democracy now or it will be too late

By HauMaldives
Once CNN Anchor and political science scholar Fareed Zakaria writing about the rise of illiberal democracy wrote about the rise of fascist and separatist government that are formed in the new and emerging democracies of the world. He claimed that some governments elected following democratic transition in new democracies around the world routinely ignore constitutional limits on their power and depriving their citizens of basic rights and freedoms carry out dictatorships in the guise of democracy. US President Obama had also expressed concern over the rise of Dictators in new and emerging democracies.
Zakaria and many other experts of politics argue that we cannot call a governing system democratic just because it holds free and fair election. But more than anything it is the respect that those in power shows to the Constitution; rule of law and separation of power after getting elected that determines whether a government or a leader is democratic or not.
In the Maldives we have seen in just three years a leader and his party in power lock the Supreme Court doors in a bid to appoint the Judges he wanted to the Supreme Court bench. The said leader went outside the powers of the Constitution to kidnap arrest and imprison the citizens of his country after declaring openly that he and his government will abuse the people, their rights if they feel it serves their self-interest. This is not to mention the said leadership’s constant assault on the people’s unbreakable devotion to their religious and cultural heritage and making a mockery of it every time he gets the chance to express in an international forum.
How can people disregard such serious shortcoming of a person and the reality of what the people and the country went through due to those shortcomings? The unbearable truth is; a majority among us are still standing hand in hand with the said leader and his party regardless of how their own brothers and sisters, moreover their reputation and their beloved country suffered in their hands.
Those among us that are subservient to such an abusive leader and his group without an ounce of guilt and without any consideration to what the future under such a maniac squad can be like undermine what happened and continue to support them; adamant on bringing them back to power. This political group and their leadership are clearly driven by financial woos as can be seen by the cases of rampant corruption committed by the said group and their leader leading to multimillion dollar losses to the State and this why the sane among us need to think about changing the mentality of their blind followers before it’s too late. Their senseless endorsement of a group so evil is breaking the hearts of the patriotic nation loving citizens. The fantasy alternative universe created by the group is a red flag and if anything goes by what happened in the last three years the faithful patriotic nation loving Maldivians should mobilise themselves now, and do whatever they can to change the mentality of their brothers, sisters and neighbours that have become eunuchs for this political group and their leadership.
We have an Asian Hitler and his Nazi party in the Maldives; no longer in the making but fully established and just like how Hitler wooed millions to follow his political ideology; this group in the Maldives had mobilised a huge following among us. With an election looming still; no one in the political circle is doing anything to wake up their citizens; perhaps they all are a bit scared; due to the murder of one of their own who stood up to make a stand against the group by lodging a Bill in the Parliament to pass a law making it compulsory for every citizen and those in power to uphold the centuries old cultural and religious unity of the country.
A collective effort by the rest of the parties, leaders and their supporters that are now behind incumbent government of Maldives are needed, to wake up the ignorance that a majority of unsuspecting gullible Maldivians are trapped in since the takeover of our stable political system by the Asian version of Hitler and his Nazi party.
Unless we start to act and make some noise pretty soon and stand strong in ending the dangerous trance half of our population is trapped in; according to them 50,000 the man and his group driven only by greed and megalomania will consume our nation and takeover once again within a span of few months. The independence of the country, the century old religion and cultural heritage will be in total ruin beyond salvage pretty soon if we sit tight lipped and do nothing.
The patronage system that this greedy narcissist and his group established with his counterparts around the world, from some powerful countries mean the havoc he created with abuse of the Constitution, disregard to the separation of power, rampant corruption, destruction of economic and social fabrics of the society, before, will mean nothing compared to what’s in store for us in the near future if he gets away with it this time. We have to become united once again and do something, do whatever we can to wake up the blinded hoodwinked brothers and sisters among us that are caught in the spell cast by this fearful force.
